🦃 Draftsgiving: A November Writing Feast
October 26, 2026
New

Thirty days, one goal, and a table full of writers with whom to share the journey.

Draftsgiving runs from 1 to 30 November, and the doors open on Sunday 1 November. The event is live to join right now at https://www.novlr.org/draftsgiving

🍽️ Choose a goal to suit your appetite

Pick from three goals: 10,000, 25,000, or 50,000 words in thirty days. Novlr has custom goals available all year round, with an amazing Discord community to cheer each other on. This event is for us to do something different, and preset goals are all about giving you a little push to do something you'd normally never attempt.

We know that not everyone has the same time available, which is why there are three options to choose from. We want to issue a challenge without you burning out.

👥 Who can join?

Any writer with a Novlr account can join the event.

No account yet? You can make one as you join Draftsgiving. It's completely free and only takes about a minute.

📝 Which words count?

Only words you add to your project from 1 November count toward your goal. You're welcome to write before then, but whatever your project holds at the end of 31 October will be your starting point.

Your day ends at midnight in your own time zone, and Draftsgiving wraps at 11:59pm on 30 November, wherever you are.

🍴Portion size is flexible

Just like your appetite, the time available to you can change. You can switch to a different goal any time in November.

Every option is valid, so choose a goal you can actually achieve, and we won't force you to write more than you're able. If you miss a day, we'll automatically adjust your target to keep you on track.

👭 Better with company

Draftsgiving is all about community spirit. Join us in the Novlr Discord community to share word counts, run writing sprints, swap plot problems, and cheer each other across the finish line.

Other writers see your username and profile picture, and that's all. Your project and your words are private.

💬 Co-authors

Draftsgiving goals are based on your project word count, not your personal one, so if you're collaborating on a project, all words added to the project will count toward your goal.

Co-authors can join separately with the same project, with their own goals, but both writers' additions will progress both goals.
