This request is all about productivity. Writers want to be able to toggle editing on and off, so with a no-edit mode, you’d essentially not be able to delete anything, only keep writing. This would include typos, reordering of paragraphs, etc. This is also known as Hemingway mode; it basically lets you get your first draft done without the distraction of editing.
