Search and replace
Under consideration
Sep 11, 2024
At the moment, if a character or location name changes, it is time-consuming to go through the whole project manually to change those things. Search and replace would make this much easier.
Related to this is wiki-style tagging, so you could tag characters, locations, objects, etc., with notes, which would automatically change the name if the note name was changed and the item tagged.

The lack of this feature is the most important reason why I don't use Novrl. Every day, I write two short texts that I later use for other works. And it is very important to me that I can find where I have written something.
Everything I need to say has been said. However, as an author there are times when you realize you must change a name, or spelling of a word, and they are throughout your 80,000 word opus. To have to search with my eyes is not only tedious, but I miss some of them. Please, do whatever it takes to please add this capability to Novlr. PLEASE.
Absolutely! We need a global search facility, and tags per chapter and up. I rely on Tags to help me identify which chapters are at which stage. Global search and replace would save a lot of time sorting. Novlr already has half of this in place for this road map.
Hi, to me this is a basic that should already be in place. I am nearing the end of my novel and I want to change my protagonist name.... Also it be useful to search for particular terms or phrases, as I want to check if I have used something too much...
Brand new user… kinda shocked this isn’t a feature already.
Please! Search amd replace would be very very helpful!!!
This feature would be so helpful! If I can’t remember which chapter a certain thing took place or was said I have to either scroll through chapters until I maybe find it or download it to word and then search, which is frustrating.
Hannah Agreed - a global search would be so helpful, even without the replace function. (My character tells someone she has no siblings, which I now need to change, but I can't remember who she told, or when!)
Not having this is the main blocker preventing me from making Novlr my primary tool
Whole document search would literally change my life in Novlr. One thing that may make this easier is a full-manuscript or revision/editing mode, where you switch into a view where you're looking at the document as a whole (this is another high upvote feature in the list people are talking about, I see...it seems related).
Yes, yes, yes!
Full document search and search/replace would be a game changer on this, especially when you have A LOT of chapters.
